This Saturday’s Movies in the Park event, features the recent blockbuster, “Lincoln,” which is rated PG-13. All movies begin at dusk, with pre-show activities, “Move before the Movies,” taking place an hour prior. Movies in the Park will also be raffling off three lawn chairs for those in attendance.

The Mayor’s Summer Night Lights program features a multitude of activities, including a DJ, swimming, inflatables, dodge ball, performances by local music artists, motivational speakers, karaoke, Car Club demos, street hockey and so much more! There will be a nightly meal provided, free of charge, by Manna Café.

The conference is more than just fervent admiration of the written word. It also seeks to inform and educate writers of the ongoing changes in the publishing world. Sharpening writing skills along with being well versed in the business of publishing one’s work is also given voice during the conference. Preparing a manuscript for presentation, selecting a literary agent and the emerging changes being wrought by social media on publishing are all areas examined at the conference.

42, the biopic feature film based on baseball great Jackie Robinson, has a strong Tennessee connection. The movie filmed scenes at Chattanooga’s historic Engel Stadium, which doubled as Brooklyn’s iconic Ebbets Field, and other locations in Chattanooga.
