Russia’s Bloshoi Ballet brings “The Flames of Paris” to the silver screen

NASHVILLE: The majesty of the Bolshoi Ballet comes to the silver screen in a one day only screening at Green Hills 16, 3815 Greenhills Village Drive and Opry Mills 20 Plus Imax, 570 Opry Mills Drive in Nashville on Sunday, March 4.

The Bolshoi Ballet sets the stage ablaze with Alexei Ratmansky’s fiery and passionate revival of the classic The Flames of Paris. In the era of the French Revolution, Jeanne and her brother Jérôme leave Marseille for Paris in support the revolutionary effort that is taking over the capital. While fighting for freedom, they both encounter love along the way.

Few ballets can properly depict the Bolshoi’s overflowing energy and fiery passion as can Ratmansky’s captivating revival of Vasily Vainonen’s The Flames of Paris. With powerful virtuosity and some of the most stunning pas de deux, the Bolshoi Ballet displays an exuberance almost too enormous for the Moscow stage.

The music is by Boris Asafiev with choreography by Alexei Ratmansky, after Vasily Vainonen.  The cast is the world-famous Bolshoi Principals, Soloists and Corps de Ballet.

Running time is 2 hours and 15 minutes. For tickets, visit Fathom Events online.
