Middle Tennessee could see 2-7 inches of rain through Saturday


NASHVILLE: The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued their Hydrologic Outlook for all of Middle Tennessee– and it’s a wet one.

Two rounds of heavy rain expected this week  as an active weather pattern  brings two rounds of showers and thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rainfall across Middle Tennessee this week.

The first round will begin Tuesday and continue into Wednesday into Wednesday, and the second round from Friday into Saturday.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are forecast from Tuesday through Wednesday, with the heaviest amounts falling near the Alabama border. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 4 inches are possible from Friday into Saturday morning, with the heaviest amounts again expected near the Alabama border. Total rainfall this week could reach anywhere from 2 to 7 inches, which could lead to flooding in some areas from Friday into Saturday.

The heaviest rain is expected in southern Middle Tennessee counties near the Alabama border, Tuesday through Wednesday (round 1) and again on Friday into Saturday (round 2).

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Heavy rainfall could lead to flooding and rises on area rivers and lakes, especially from Friday into the upcoming weekend.
